LEWDOWN won the toss and elected to bowl on a muggy and overcast day.
Yelverton started off slowly against the good opening bowlers Tallun Burns and Andrew Vernon, and then Clive Marais.
At the 20 over mark Yelverton were 66-5 off which Ashleigh Phillips scored 49 not out. The drinks break seemed to work wonders for Yelverton as with Chris Vinson now at the crease, he and Phillips added 118 for the sixth wicket before Phillips was eventually out for his maiden 100 with 110.
Vinson then stayed in to the end with 78 not out and shared in a 42 partnership with the Yelverton number 9 Ian Dawe who scored 21 and got off the mark with a six. Vinson and Phillips hit five sixes each.
After 40 overs Yelverton hit 231-8 so definately a good recovery from 66-5. The pick of the bowling was Clive Marais with 10-3-48-4, Andrew Vernon 10-3-29-2 and for a youngster Tallun Burns who bowled far better than his figures suggest 8-0-47-1.
After the tea Lewdown lost Batstone fairly quickly and then had a great partnership between Marais (39) and Summersby (33) adding just over 50 for the second wicket. Yelverton bowled Joseph Stabin and Ian Dawe straight through, Stabin 1-42 and I Dawe 2-39 and at the 20 over point Lewdown were 92-4. However, some good bowling from Ben Spear 3-11, Cameron Dawe 2-10 meant that Lewdown lost steady wickets after drinks and were eventually bowled out for 119. Yelverton won by 112 runs (Yelverton 20pts, Lewdown 7pts)
The game was played by two sporting teams and in such good atmosphere. And the five youngsters from Lewdown were a credit to their team.
