TAVISTOCK junior triathlete Pete Jarman, 14, competed in the recent Bude Shoreline Triathlon and did superbly - especially up against many far older than himself.

This event was the biggest ever with 320 triathletes competing from across the UK.  It was a scorcher of a day with temperatures in the high twenties.  The event started with an energy sapping 500m swim into the surf conditions at Summerleaze Beach for the first leg of this gruelling event.  This was followed by an exposed 11 mile cycle race to Widemouth and back. The final leg of the event was a 3.5 mile run around Bude.

It was a great experience for Pete to compete in such a large event.  He finished the event in a time of 1 hour 25 minutes 49 seconds and took sixth place in the 18 and under age category.

Pete would like to thank Okehampton Cycle Club for all their help in training and Derek of Dartmoor Cycles who has supplied kit  for the bike .  Pete is also a member of Plymouth Triathlon Club.
