A SPONSORED dog walk on Dartmoor is being held to promote responsible pet ownership in aid of Animals in Distress and other animal related charities.

The event is planned to take place on September 3 starting at 10.30am at Haytor.

Mrs Theresa Everett from the Two Oakes National Home and Pet Care Services at Manaton who is organising the event said: 'The walk will start at the bottom car park at Haytor.

'It will take the participants to Houndtor where they will break for lunch. Refreshments will be available from the 'Hound of the Basket meals' van.'

She said the proprietor has promised to give a donation from the profits to the charities.

Participants will then resume the walk back to Haytor aiming to finish at 5.30pm.

'Any donations, volunteers or contributions to the event will be greatly appreciated by all the organisers and animals who will gain from this event,' said Mrs Everett.

'Please help us to help the animals and join in with an event to remember,' she added.
