USHC A 1

Tavistock 3

WITH four league games left to play only two points separate the second placed team in South West and the sixth.

The forces side usually are tough opposition but this contest proved to be an easier fixture than expected.

The initial deadlock was broken after ten minutes when a glorious run down the left by Jefferies concluded with another superb goal.

More pressure ensued and Jefferies' second was scored while the home side were concentrating on their own internal conflicts.

Nick Andrews scored a good goal to make the half-time score 3-0.

This second half proved to be a much more even contest with the game spreading from end to end at a furious pace.

Eventually the USHC side scored from a short corner after the initial save by Osborne was collected and put into the net.

With ten minutes to go the visitors were never threatened again and went out worthy winners to face top of the table Penzance this Saturday at home.

Tavistock 2nd 1

PGSOB 3rd 0

THIS was a splendid performance by Tavistock Seconds.

Tavistock were in command from the start with the midfield, particularly Rowe, in full command, feeding the forwards and getting back to help the defence when PGSOB had breakaway attacks.

The winning goal came through Ralph whose extraordinary reverse stick shop looped over the goalkeeper's head into the net via the crossbar.

During the second half things were much the same and, on many occasions, it seemed impossible for the forwards to miss and yet they did. A feature of the half were Ralph's long runs both up the pitch and across the face of the D.

Wills had another fine game at the back distributing effectively and tackling well.
