LEWDOWN, who have not won away from home this season, started the better in a difficult fixture and captain Adrian Vernon scored after an excellent solo run and finish.
Boscastle battled back and a header that struck the bar bounced down close to the goal-line. The referee awarded Boscastle the disputed goal.
The referee awarded Boscastle the first of three penalties when Kevin Swift was adjudged to have fouled the opposing attacker. Fortunately the penalty was saved by Keith Everard.
Lewdown played some excellent football and Danny Partridge, Will Farr and Richard Metters had chances but at half-time it was 1-1.
The second half started badly for Lewdown when another penalty was given with Andrew Vernon adjudged to have pushed a player. Boscastle scored for a 2-1 lead. Lewdown battled on with Jamie Grindley, Adrian Vernon and Kevin Swift winning the midfield battle and Metters and Partridge and Hughes looking lively up front.
Boscastle were again awarded a penalty when an excellent tackle from Andrew Vernon was again judged to be a foul. Boscastle made no mistake and made it 3-1.
That was not the end of the drama, Adrian Vernon from 25 yards hit the cross bar and Kevin Swift from a pinpoint Andrew Vernon free kick could not put the finishing touch.
