A TAVISTOCK cycling club has raised money for the Guide Hall which has been its club room for ten years by doing the thing it knows best — cycling.
Tavistock Wheelers, together with the hall committee, organised a sponsored cycle ride with a choice of two distances — 63 or 93 miles — and 11 riders took part, most opting for the longer distance. The exact amount raised is not yet known as it is still coming in.
Pat Warne, chairman of the Guide Hall management committee and a brownie leader, said the committee had recently faced decisions over restoration work and the cyclists had decided to help raise some money towards the necessary refurbishments. 'We are very grateful to them and their sponsors,' she said.
