BRUCE Kent, vice-president of CND, will be addressing a public meeting in Tavistock on January 14 to spell out the case against war on Iraq.

Tavistock Peace Action Group, which is organising the meeting, is also intending to run a public information stall, lobby West Devon MP John Burnett, and attend the next big national peace demonstration in London on February 15.

Martin Mowforth, co-ordinator of TPAG, said they were delighted a peace activist of the stature of Bruce Kent had agreed to come to Tavistock to argue the case for peace through justice and against the war on Iraq.

?We will be booking a big venue for the meeting as we expect a large attendance,? he said. Members of the public are invited to the group?s next meeting on Tuesday, December 17 at 7.30pm in the Friends? Meeting House at Bedford Car Park in Tavistock to discuss the issues and help plan the public meeting and other events.

More than 30 people attended the group?s last meeting on December 4, when peace campaigner Matt Bury was the speaker. Mr Bury outlined the history of Western policy towards Iraq, pointing out that war on Iraq would lead to the deaths of many innocent civilians.
