RESIDENTS of Lewdown joined the village?s recreation field committee on Sunday for the official opening of the new sports pavilion.
A sports pavilion has been on Lewdown Recreation Field for well over 50 years, and the new building is the envy of many local villages.
The project has been ?self-build? with grants only totalling £10,000 - the rest being met by donations and fundraising. A further £8,000 is to be raised to fund a loan.
Groups benefiting from the new pavilion will be the local football and cricket clubs.
Cedric Warren, a long standing trustee of the recreation field committee, accompanied by his wife, Linda, took great pride in cutting the tape. John Lethbridge, chairman of the committee, was also among those present. Refreshments were served for visitors who were welcome to look round.
