THE 46,000 Lions clubs around the world change their officers at the end of June and Tavistock’s own club is no exception with Paul German taking over as president from Paul Blowey.

At a recent social gathering of club members, partners and friends held at Drake’s Cafe at Grenofen following a canal walk led by Simon Dell, Paul German thanked his namesake for his excellent year of service to the club and community and said that he was looking forward to leading the club for the next 12 months especially as in 2017 the international organisation celebrates the centenary of its founding in Chicago in 1917.

The other main officers of the club are Jan Meakin - vice president; Brenda Moyse - secretary; Matt Hibbert - treasurer; Pat Macauley - activities chair; Hywel Edwards - community services chair; Lyn Roberts - membership chair; Alan Wroath - youth officer; Paul Congo - health and safety officer; John Noblet - social organiser and Steve Grummitt - press officer
