WEST Devon Citizens Advice Bureau launched its second annual report recently with an afternoon tea party at the Ockment Centre in Okehampton. Although originally intended to be a garden party the hot weather made everyone seek shade in the centre to examine the report and meet fellow guests. Chairman of the trustees Anita Prosser welcomed the guests. These included representatives of many of the organisations who have been involved in the new home visiting and outreach services currently operated by the bureau, supporters from the parishes and local councils, and Okehampton mayor Frances Luxton. Volunteer advisers were on hand to explain to guests how the CAB operates and to thank them for their input and support over the previous year. They also explained the training process that volunteers go through to qualify as advisers and highlighted the need for more volunteers to come forward for the next training programme to begin in September.
