LIBERAL Democrats during a packed meeting at Tedburn St Mary last Saturday selected a member to contest the new Central Devon constituency at the next general election. Sally Morgan is the 36-year-old county councillor for Bovey Rural and Teignbridge district councillor for Bovey Tracey and holds portfolios on the executives of both councils. She is also a school governor, hospital governor, a trustee of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and member of the Dartmoor National Park Authority. She lives with her husband and 8 year old daughter in Bovey Tracey, having returned to her roots in the West Country seven years ago. Mrs Morgan is a primary school teacher and has taught in a number of schools in the constituency. She said: ?I am delighted and privileged to have been selected to work for local people in this most beautiful part of the country.? l The Conservative party prospective parliamentary candidate for Central Devon is 45-year-old Mel Stride, who was selected last year. Mr Stride, a businessman, has lived at Ashburton for just over a year with his wife Michelle and nine-month-old baby daughter Ophelia. He moved to the area from Middlesex.
