Plymouth II 1
Okehampton Columbines 2
WITH a full team, Columbines hockey club were able to notch another win although it was a close game.
Okehampton opened the scoring when Kelly Cooper flicked the ball past the keeper. But with a number of players playing out of position there was a muddled look about the team.
Just before half-time Plymouth scored an equaliser with a well taken corner.
In the second half there was a more organised approach by Okehampton although the defence had to work hard.
Netty Collett did not allow a Plymouth attack to develop down the centre and Debbie Pritchard at left back had a strong game.
But player of the match was Sharon Parsons in goal, who made some outstanding saves.
After a number of missed chances Viv Weatherington finally scored when the ball fell loose off the goalkeeper's pads.
Although this was not one of Okehampton's best performances there was good team spirit and Georgina Geikie, in her first league game for Columbines, held her own at right half.
This week Okehampton are away to Mannamead.
