WITH Tavistock's Goose Fair just days away, people are being made aware of temporary arrangements for taxi ranks and car parks in the town.

On the day of the event, Wednesday, October 9, the taxi rank in Bedford Square will be closed.

Temporary taxi ranks will operate near NatWest Bank in Duke Street, outside Newell's Travel in West Street and in Chapel Street car park.

As usual, number of car parks will also close during the event.

From midnight on Saturday, October 5, West Devon Borough Council will close the Bedford and Wharf car parks for the whole week to accommodate fairground rides.

On Goose Fair day itself, Russell Street, Chapel Street and Riverside car parks will also be closed.

Abbey car park will be available to blue badge holders only and charges will apply.

All car parks, except Bedford and the Wharf will re-open at 8am on Thursday, October 10.

Signs and barriers will be in place where necessary and council officers will be monitoring the event throughout the day to ensure it runs smoothly and safely.

The borough council's waste contractor, FCC Environment, along with council staff will be back in the town from 2am on Thursday to carry out a major clean-up operation.

They will work throughout the early hours collecting rubbish in an effort to make the streets presentable by the time residents start their day.
