TAVISTOCK parish has said a sad farewell to its curate, the Rev Julie Nelson, who has left to be with her husband in Germany.

Mrs Nelson — who had lived in Tavistock for around 20 years — qualified as a non-stipendiary priest six years ago, when she became part-time curate in Tavistock.

Preb John Rawlings said: 'Julie has done an enormous amount in her time here as curate — far more than she should usually have done.

'She had a tremendous ministry with people in lots of different ways and has been an invaluable part of the team.'
