A TAVISTOCK paramedic is bidding farewell after 27 years of service at Tavistock Ambulance Station.

Tom Davidson joined the ambulance service as a result of job searching after coming out of the army.

He said: 'I just saw it advertised in the newspaper and went for it. I started off in patient transport, then took a technician course and after eight or nine years became a paramedic.

'I have had lots of good times and I will miss all my work colleagues, but I will try to keep in touch.'

Tom has applied for a job with the Children's Hospice South West and a part-time position at B&Q to keep him occupied in retirement.

After working his last shift, Tom celebrated his retirement with a party at Lamerton Village Hall together with colleagues, friends and family.
