SIX fire crews fought a large blaze at the site of a

pallets business near Tavistock last Thursday.

Fire crews were called to A and M Pallets at Haye Down Industrial Estate just before midnight on Thursday, where around 1,000 pallets were well alight.

The fire soon spread to a nearby single storey workshop.

Fire crews from Tavistock, Launceston, Yelverton, Ivybridge, Bere Alston and Plymouth attempted to tackle the blaze.

Just before 2am they managed to force entry into the workshop in order to extinguish the fire, but just half an hour later, around 500 litres of fuel also became involved in the blaze.

Relief crews took over at around 5am, dampening down and turning over hotspots.

After more than nine hours later the fire was mostly out. The yard and workshop were left severely damaged by the fire.

Police say arson is not being ruled out as a cause of the blaze.
