THE streets of Tavistock were filled with crowds on Saturday night, who had gathered to watch the town's annual carnival procession.
Leading the procession was David Turner, Tavistock's new town crier, awarded the title during a competition held at the carnival fun day in the Meadows. Mr Turner was chosen by town mayor David Whitcomb, Keith Penney and Richard Hamer of Tavistock Lions Club, and Callington town crier Dennis Cook.
Steve Grummitt, Lions spokesman, said: 'David very ably led the procession with Dennis on Saturday — he is just the sort of extrovert person you need for the job.'
