A TAVISTOCK College student has received an offer to study medicine at the University of Oxford after gaining five As at AS level.

Robin Jones needs to achieve three As in his A2s to take up his place at St Hilda's College to train as a doctor.

Robin said: 'I want to do something that means I can help people and is going to be different every day. It's so portable — I can go round the world and work in poor countries.'

Robin achieved A grades in AS level maths, chemistry, biology, psychology and French before applying to the university.

He is continuing to study all bar French at A2, and needs to gain an A in three of them to meet the offer.
