OXFAM shops in West Devon have started rewarding customers for any items of Marks and Spencer clothing donated. Anyone who includes items of the brand clothing in their donations to Oxfam in Okehampton and Tavistock will receive a £5 gift voucher from Marks and Spencer, as part of the retailer's new Oxfam Clothes Exchange. The exchange has been made possible through a unique partnership between Oxfam and Marks and Spencer, to boost the number of quality clothes donated to the shops. Jacky Theobald, Oxfam's West Devon retail manager, said: 'My volunteer teams love receiving Marks and Spencer clothing in their shops as customers know they are well made and that they are likely to last, so they sell really well. 'The exchange will benefit everyone, Oxfam gets more great clothes to sell and more people can escape poverty. Customers get £5 off at M&S and the amount of clothing that is reused and recycled will dramatically increase.' Marks and Spencer is celebrating its first anniversary of Plan A, the retailer's ecoplan — part of its commitment is to encourage customers to recycle clothes. Katie Stafford, Marks and Spencer sustainable development manager, said: 'We are delighted to team up with Oxfam, the UK's biggest charity retailer.'
