Werrington v Tavistock

TAVISTOCK opened the batting with Darren Chappell and Rhys Davies and, both batsmen looked in good touch getting the visitors off to a steady start putting 50 on the board after nine overs.

Tavistock then lost a wicket and Mikey Cousens then joined Davies at the crease and both batsmen played some exquisite shots all around the ground and it was Davies who reached 50 first with a huge six over mid-off.

Both continued to bat superbly and it was Cousens who then reached his 50 with a text book cover drive for four. Davies and Cousens continued to attack the Werrington bowlers at every opportunity before Davies was finally caught on the boundary for an outstanding 97 which included seven sixes.

Rob Milligan then joined Cousens at the crease and Cousens continued his assault on the Werrington bowlers finding the boundary at every opportunity.

Cousens finally departed for a superb 88 after being caught at mid-off. Milligan continued to push Tavistock along nicely and end their innings on 249 for 7 of 40 overs.

Tavistock opened the bowling with Johny Smith and Sam Willets. Smith made the breakthrough in the sixth over when Davies produced a brilliant diving catch in the covers to dismiss Baker.

Willetts also picked up a wicket in the next over dismissing Bailey after Milligan took a good catch in the slips. A run-out by Rhys Davies then had Werrington three down with only 40 on the scoreboard.

Adam Chidzoy then introduced himself and Jamie Stephens into the attack and both bowlers produced a fine display of spin bowling picking up three wickets each courtesy of some good slip fielding by Davies and Milligan and some quality wicket-keeping by Cousens.

With Werrington on 99 for 9, youngsters Jenkins and Standbury put on 40 for the last wicket before Davies cleaned bowled Stanbury.

Werrington were finally all-out for 139.

Tavistock won the game by 110 runs.
