TO help prepare for the school summer break, advisors from Devon County Council's DISC, the family information service, will be joining West Devon Connect's regular outreach drop-in sessions during July.
DISC offer a wide range of free and independent information on childcare, activities and services for families and children aged 0 to 19 years. They can provide information on childminders, or how to become a childminder; day nurseries; holiday clubs and playschemes; out of school clubs; pre-schools and playgroups; parent and toddler groups; places to go and things to do; family support and help and advice for parents; sports, leisure and play. DISC is also able to help find specialist services, support groups and help for carers of children with additional needs.
An advisor from the child road safety team will be giving guidance on choosing and fitting child seat restraints. Free checks will also be available to ensure seats are fitted correctly.
Along with other agencies who will be giving advice on a number of public and voluntary services, the Connect team will offer visitors the opportunity to enter a free prize draw with the chance of winning one of six family swim vouchers. The vouchers can be used at either Meadowlands Leisure Pool in Tavistock, or Parklands Pool in Okehampton.
