THE demolition of the timber offices at the rear of the parish hall in Bere Alston has paved the way for the construction of a £400,000 two storey annexe.

The offices were constructed in the mid 1970s to house the doctors surgery in the village which then moved to a new purpose built surgery in 1981.

Following this move the building was used by Bere Ferrers Parish Councils as offices, the council are now moving to temporary offices in the village.

The removal of the building will enable construction work to begin shortly, following a six year campaign by the Bere Alston Regeneration Partnership.

The new annexe will boast a new childcare centre, community rooms, IT suite, kitchen and council offices on top of the existing 100 year hall and stage.
