THE new guide to Dartmoor public transport was issued this week by Devon County Council.
The free publication, for the period May 28 this year to May 26 next year, is available from libraries and tourist information centres and is a useful source of information for anyone planning to use public transport to travel to work or for days out.
l The Dartmoor Sunday Rover network started last Sunday, until September 17. Passengers can buy a single ticket for an unlimited day's travel on the entire network from Paignton to Barnstaple and Dawlish to Tintagel, including the Dartmoor railway from Exeter to Okehampton and the Tamar Valley line.
Tickets cost £5, £3 for children and £10 for a family of five. OAPs are £4.50 with a countywide pass.
Ticket holders are eligible to receive reduced entry at various attractions and free access to the programme of guided walks run by the National Trust.
For this, the first weekend, a family ticket may be bought for the price of a single adult on both Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.
l The first guide to public transport in West Devon has also been published.
Devon County Council said it was published in response to public demand and a recognition of the need for a separate West Devon guide.
Guides are available from libraries, post offices and tourist information centres.
