FOLLOWING on from a successful trip to East Devon a month ago, Otters hosted a home gala at Parklands. The depth within the squad these days allowed Otters to field two teams, with Bude and Exmouth providing the opposition. There were some notable performances from swimmers in both Okehampton teams. One of the Okehampton teams eventually won the gala to make this the second success in two outings. Otter swimmers who won first places in the individual swims: Adrian Kettle, Matt Westlake, Hannah Cox, Charlotte Rowe, Lottie Trerise, Sam Collett, Vicky Medlyn, Matt Webber, Rebecca Chapman, George Roberts. There was more success in the relay events with first places for the U15 relay team, U13 relay team, U11 relay team, open relay team. There were notable performances from veteran swimmers Dave Dennis, who was second in the breaststroke, and Nick Bowles. There was another impressive swim from Abi Kettle, in her first competitive gala. The next chance to compete will be in the club championships, and members need to watch out for details of this at the poolside.
