Tamerside 2

Ordulph FC 2

ORDULPH seem to have finally got their season up and running with this well fought out draw against league leaders Tamerside.

Being hampered by injuries, Ordulph have stuggled at the start of the season but victory last week against Yelverton was the start of what the Ordulph hope is the beginning of a good run.

The game was very even and both teams could have gone in front, Tom Pilbeam was in inspired form in goal and produced some superb saves throughout the game .

Ordulph took the lead on the half hour with a fantastic goal. Jack Payne played a superb ball through for James Phillpotts and he brilliantly lobbed the keeper from a difficult angle. The Ordulph felt Tamerside were lucky not to have a player sent off for taking down Joel Anderson when he was through on goal.Tamerside got level when Tom Pilbeam made a great save from a close range strike, only for the rebounds to be slammed home.

Tamerside then went ahead on half time with a scrappy goal from close range.

The second half was very similar to the first. Pilbeam was forced into making another decent save from close range. The Ordulph got on level terms after some good footwork from Joel Anderson allowed him to squeeze a shot underneath the keeper. The Ordulph could have gone on to win the game, Anderson twice forcing a good save by the home keeper and Ben Stephens forced another save after good work by Sebastian Krotke on the wing.

Ordulph defended well when needed and manager Mark Piper will be happy with the performance of the team.

Next week the Ordulph entertain Plymouth Parkway at Mary Tavy.
