Ordulph Taverners v Tavistock 3rds ON a wicket more suitable for swamp wrestling, and under a sky full of threatening clouds Ordulph for once won the toss and put Tavistock in to bat. With Ordulph?s main strike bowler missing, the shinny cherry was passed to Rotton to weave his magic with. This he did with relish, against a weakened Tavistock batting line up. With a controlled spell of bowling he made best use of the conditions to fairly carve through the opposition. With no more than 15 overs gone Tavistock were reeling with five wickets down and a paltry 27 on the board. Only Warlow with a brave 12 managing to get in to double figures. At the other end Folley was adapting to the wet conditions by modifying his customary long run up to no run up at all. This seemed to work for him as he supported Rotton with 3 wickets in the process. Rotton went on to cap a superb spell of 12 overs right through with five wickets for a paltry 20 runs. Enter new Aussie signing Skippy Whitfield who proceeded to mop up the Tavistock tail with 2 wickets in 8 balls to restrict Tavistock to 58 all out in less than 27 overs. Ordulph keeper Baskerville also had a superb afternoon with 3 sharp catches and a stumping. Throwing caution to the wind Ordulph opener Finnigan fell in the first over to Hutchins, sending a ball in to orbit which Russell gratefully received when the ball eventually returned to earth. At the crease now was Rogan Sutton and Aussie Whitfield in his first padding up for the Ordulph. The Ordulph pair were in no mood to hang around as they lambasted some erratic Tavistock bowling to all parts of the park. In seven overs they had smashed 61 runs in a powerful display of big hitting to make light work of the Tavistock total. Job done, beers back in the pub by 5pm. This week Ordulph complete their league season with their final game away to Werrington.
