A NEW team from Tavistock has signed up for the Plymouth and District League for the forthcoming 2007/2008 and are looking for players to join them in preparation for next season. Ordulph Arms FC have successfully applied to the P and D league and will kick off in the intermediate league. The club has been reformed from the Mary Tavy football club, who used to play in the Cornwall Duchy league. Club treasurer James Coole explained: ?Playing in the Duchy league as Mary Tavy we just found we had our Saturdays completely taken up. There was just too much travelling, having to go to places such as Newquay for a game. ?As Ordulph Arms FC we are still going to be playing at Mary Tavy and look forward to the new season although we haven?t had our fixtures yet and have a number of friendlies to play.? Andy Coad, owner of the Ordulph Arms, in Tavistock, is the club secretary and his pub sponsors the team. The club already have a squad of 15 players but anyone interested in joining can go along to the start of their training at Tavistock Primary School at 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 4.
