A strong contingent from Okehampton Running Club contested the Sourton Scramble,
Andy Vallance, club chairman, put in his usual strong run to finish second overall in 43.52 and Bryan Friend also had a great run to finish 12th in 48.57. George Speak won the youth section in 46.20. Karen Skye, just three weeks after a strong run in the tough Eden Marathon, was the third lady home in 53.03. Andy and Karen also won the prizes for the first EX20 post code runners.
The multi-terrain route starts on the Granite Way before entering fields leading up to the moor taking in a steep hill which reduces the race to a walk at that point for all but the fittest. After the recent rain runners were warned to keep to the markers otherwise they would 'sink well.'
Other ORC times: Nick Seccombe 49.57, Lucy Skye 57.08, Jo Daniel 58.11, Marilyn Cooper 64.17, Emma Pearcy 67.17. Jo Camies, Ali Holiday, Cathy Carey, Carol Cornwall ran together to finish in 70.15.
