ARTISTS, craftspeople and makers in West Devon are invited to attend an open meeting to hear plans for the county wide Devon Open Studios event, organised by Devon Artist Network, which will take place in September. All artists are invited to come along and find out more, meet other artists and ask questions. This year, the event will be structured differently with a series of arts trail maps being produced, instead of just one catalogue. Artists will be able to define their own trail area and will no longer be restricted by local authority boundaries. This means that for the first time artists who are geographically close but in different local authority areas, for example, Chagford and Moretonhampstead, will be able to exhibit together. Formerly known as Nine Days of Art, the event attracted nearly 600 artists in 2007 exhibiting in 247 venues across Devon. With more than £332,000 worth of work sold and commissions made last year, it is a major platform for Devon artists. Entry into the event is open to any artist living or practising in Devon. For artists in the Tavistock area there will be a meeting on Tuesday January 29 at The Wharf in Tavistock at 7pm .
