OKEHAMPTON band Quorum are hosting their own free music festival in Okehampton on Saturday, August 5.

In 2016, Quorum were one of the finalists at the Okehampton Battle of the Bands. With this year’s Party in the Park event being cancelled, the band spoke with some of their musical friends and the Open Arms Festival was born.

Working in conjunction with Rob Bass, Open Arms will offer a variety of musical genres from acoustic to rockabilly, indie, rock, blues and reggae.

Held at the Kings Arms, the festival will be open to all ages and there is no entry fee. Weather permitting, it will be held in the beer garden.

Okehampton acts performing include Everything for a Fiver, King Knut, Raining Globe and Quorum. They are joined by Jude Rotton, Dan and Tash, Far From the Delta, Such Creatures, Black Tree Suns and Marley White.

Live music starts at 2pm and continues throughout the afternoon into the evening. Music will be outside until 9pm and then inside until late.

Any money raised during the event will be donated to an multiple sclerosis charity and to Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

Organiser Chris Hodgson said: ‘Although there is no Party in the Park, there will definitely be a party. We want everyone to come along, support the local music scene, sing, dance and have a great time!’
