THERE'S a real enthusiasm for football in Princetown and to prove it the village's new club has already signed up 50 players — and everyone wants to play!

Princetown FC, who have just joined the Town and Country Plymouth and West Devon Combination League, earned their first point - against Tavistock AFC.

Club secretary Anna Homden told the Times that with sponsorship from Dartmoor Brewery, Sported, West Devon Borough Council and Active Villages the team, which currently plays at home at Tavistock College, is hoping eventually to raise funds to have its own ground at Princetown.

The squad have seen their fitness levels rise in the past few weeks — not surprising really as their coaches are two former Sgt Majors —Ian Morgan and John Cragg.
