COMPLAINTS received by West Devon Borough Council have more than halved in the last three years, according to an annual report by the Local Government Ombudsman.
Just ten complaints were made against the council in the year 2003/4, in comparison with 15 the previous year and 26 the year before.
Of this year?s complaints, five were settled locally, three revealed no evidence of maladministration by the council, one was dismissed at the discretion of the ombudsman and one was not investigated as it was outside the ombudsman?s remit.
It is the first year the ombudsman has sent an annual letter to all councils. West Devon has been found to have a ?thorough and prompt? complaints procedure.
