Mixed summer hockey league Tavistock Tigers 7 Bombardiers 0 TAVISTOCK Tigers began this game without a win to their name this season and were keen to go one better following a draw with Bombardiers three weeks before. A good start was vital and Kelly got the team off the mark with a fine individual goal after two minutes. That settled the side and Tavistock began to play some good passing hockey culminating in a well worked goal for Miller. Bombardiers weren?t out of it and Zoe Viggers in goal was forced to make a great save to her left. Tigers continued to press forward resulting in another goal for Kelly, giving Tavistock a 3-0 half time lead. Recent games for Tigers have seen below par performances in the second half so it was crucial they started well. White released Kelly on the left and after a strong run he produced a super ball back across the ?D? to Eadie who struck the ball home in the far corner. The Tavistock defence of Petts, Cowen and Guy were breaking down all of Bombardiers? attacks as the rest of the team stepped up their game using the width of the pitch to great effect. After 10 minutes a powerful centre from Jones was met at the far post for Miller to make it five. With 10 minutes remaining Tigers made their final substitution as Edwards came on to score with a rasping shot following a jinking run. George capped a superb team display by scoring the last with a long drive into the corner, his first goal for the club. Jo Gaspar was thanked for umpiring. Team: Zoe Viggers (GK), Bob Cowen, Sarah Guy, Amy Petts, Phil Honey, Gareth George, Greg Curno, Emma White, Judy Miller, Kate Eadie, Neil Kelly, Ed Jones, Phil Edwards.
