THERE's a chance to shed some Christmas pounds and try out the new bikes brought by Santa at a cycling event being held at Roadford Lake this weekend.

The four-mile bike ride around the boundaries of the Roadford site starts at 11am on Sunday, although participants may set off at any time up until 3pm.

There is an entry fee of £1.50, which includes a drink and entry to the letter-boxing draw.

Riders will be given instructions to find hidden boxes and stamps during the ride, with completed sheets being put into a draw to be chosen at 4.10pm.

The winning sheet will be awarded a £10 token redeemable at the lake tea-room and shop or at the angling and watersports centre.

Money raised by the event will go to the planned Roadford Community Hall.
