FURTHER to my letter (Let?s learn from the Norwegians, November 15): Mobile cameras have to be an improvement on the present system, where motorists are able to speed in restricted areas, slowing down only where a camera is installed, and then speeding up again. I see this all the time going in and out of Plymouth. If you didn?t have these ridiculous cardboard cut-outs, and motorists had no idea where cameras were, drivers would have to change their habits or pay the price, and think of all the revenue that would generate for the Government, enough to reduce the tax on petrol? Whilst I have your attention, I notice a surfeit of signs telling us to beware of motorcyclists. No doubt statistics show that more motorcyclists are killed than other motorists, but how may of these accidents are caused by the motorcyclists themselves? What would be more appropriate would be signs asking motorists to beware of cyclists. Cycling from Roborough to Yelverton on the A386 is taking one?s life in one?s hands, with traffic speeding by at 60mph plus, and giving no room at all, one wobble and that?s it. There is plenty of room at the side of the road to create a cycle path rather than the ongoing theme of dualling the road. Tony Rushbrooke Ladypark Burrator Road Yelverton
