THE Flintstones, a gorilla, cowboys and indians, a convict, a prison warder and the first dog escapee were among 130 'prisoners' who were released on the 19th annual Dartmoor Jailbreak last Saturday.
Colin Slade from Classic Gold released the participants in this year's event, which hopes to raise £29,000 for children with cerebral palsy at Vranch House School & Centre in Exeter plus other charities.
Participants had 96 hours to travel to far-flung places without paying for any transport.
Nigel Westwood and Ann Elliott, a web developer and housewife from Tavistock, were hoping to reach Muckle Flugga off the north coast of Shetland while raising money for Vranch House and the National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease. They set off on the first leg in a stretched limousine dressed as a convict and prison warder, planning to transfer to a jet and helicopter.
Before leaving the mainland, they planned to avail themselves of the facilities at the most northerly public toilet — a new Jailbreak record!
Other teams finally reported in from countries including Croatia, Romania and Italy.
