A WEST Devon not for profit company is appealing for unwanted computers and flat screen monitors, laptops, old software, phones and leads to recycle or refurbish.

Tavistock Recycled Computers and Training sells some of the items in the shop on the outside of the Pannier Market or recycled as parts to keep other computers going.

The organisation is a community interest company which provides free advice relating to internet service providers and equipment, to those wanting to get online in their own homes.

The company also offers one to one personal computer training at a nominal fee, which is subsidised by the fundraising in the shop.

Tavistock Recycled Computers and Training needs to raise around £150 per week to offer these services and an extra £30 per week for heating, so any donations of parts or software is greatly appreciated.

Not all items donated will be suitable for recycling, but the company will dispose of anything it cannot use.

All hard drives will be totally dismantled to ensure the data cannot be accessed again.

The one to one computer training sessions take place on Tuesdays through to Fridays.

Lessons can be booked at a time to suit the individual — they are suitable for complete beginners — and the more lessons needed the less is charged.

For those who have some computer experience or just need a one off lesson on the topic of their choice can also book a single lesson for £15.
