CRAFTY people are wanted as volunteers for the Oxfam bookshop in Tavistock, to help raise valuable funds for its work.

The shop is looking to develop a range of items for sale, which can be created from books which have not sold.

Anyone who is creative is encouraged to get involved for a great opportunity.

Bookshop manager Val Sharpe said: 'Our donations include books that have the most amazing illustrations, or plates that are in wonderful condition and are probably where the books' values lie, but if the book itself is damaged or torn, we cannot sell it.

'We want to start mounting these pictures so that they could be sold for framing, or made into greetings cards.

'These are just some of our ideas — there is also a concept of 'book sculpture' that we would love to explore and I have seen all sorts of extraordinary things such as clocks made out of books.'

Anyone who is arty, or creative, or enjoys recycling and maximising the value of a damaged item, should contact the bookshop.

No previous experience is required, just enthusiasm, a sense of fun and a few hours to spare.

The shop will provide all materials and this is also something that lends itself to working from home.

The bookshop is also currently looking for a volunteer who has some knowledge of music to manage and to develop the sheet music sold in the shop.
