DEVON's care home watchdog has come up with an innovative new way to help people looking for a residential or nursing home — and their families to choose the right home to suit them.
From now on Devon Social Services Registration and Inspection Team will be publishing a range of useful and up-to date on-line information via the Internet — including the latest inspection reports on registered homes in the county.
Decisions around finding the right care home are never easy to make. Experience shows that this can be made much easier if accurate and up to date information is available to guide the choice.
The new website is available at: http://www.devon.gov.uk/socserve/riddiv.html">www.devon.gov.uk/socserve/riddiv.html
For people without a computer of their own, the information can be found using public access PCs at the local library.
Launching the new site Social Services assistant director for registration and inspection Carol Horner said: We have set up this website so that people can find a full list of possible homes or look at individual homes in more detail to help them find the most suitable to meet their particular requirements.'
He said he hoped the site would become the first stop for people who need advice and information about their options for care homes in Devon.'
