TAVISTOCK'S new library and learning centre should be open for business in June.
Tavistock councillor and chairman of Devon County Council's lifelong learning scrutiny committee, Roy Cook, will visit the site in Plymouth Road on Monday to see how work is progressing.
The building is now nearing completion and should be handed over in the next few weeks. It will then be fitted out and should be open in June.
The library will have all the usual facilities such as books, videos, CDs and cassettes, but will also have public access computers linked to the internet, a council information point, an archive service point, and a meeting room and training suite.
The county's head of library and information services, Lynn Osborne, said: ' The library service is keen to work with the community to get everyone involved in using the new facilities.'
