YOUNGSTERS at Callington Methodist Church have had a busy few weeks enjoying an Olympic themed Junior Church Summer Programme.

This year, the church used materials by Scripture Union called 'On Your Marks' and each week the Sunday sessions have been based on a different Olympic sport with bible stories, crafts, drama, songs and fun.

There is a 'Global Café' for welcome refreshment breaks during the two-hour programme each Sunday, where youngsters can sample foods from across the world.

The children have been making an Olympic poster which will be on display in the church on Honey Fair day and have also been painting flags from different nations taking part in the Olympic Games.

Last weekend they had a trip to Looe, spent time on the beach and took a boat trip, followed by a sleep-over in the church and the monthly Breakfast Club.

Junior Church is held each Sunday throughout the year and aims to give children something different during their summer holidays — a chance to try new crafts and skills and enjoy trips out — all linked to bible teaching.
