St Austell 1
Okehampton 2
OKEHAMPTON men?s hockey team were looking to put some much needed points on to the table.
Captain Nic Kearley made a couple of positional changes with Ted Lowe moving to attack and Olly Tallowin joining the defence.
St Austell got underway quicker than Okehampton, forcing saves from Kearley and effective defending from Mark Clapham, Andrew Carter and Tallowin.
Unfortunately the pressure paid off and Okehampton finished the half 1-0 down.
The second half saw a more ?up for it? Okehampton take the game to St Austell. Richard Jones marshalled Tom Morgan, Andy Finlay, Phil Mellor and Colin Lethbridge, resulting in far more positive ball to the forward line of Ted Lowe, Matt Voaden and Sam Bedford.
Again Okehampton used the rolling sub to full advantage and soon forced a penalty corner. A slice move between Morgan and Voaden levelled the score.
St Austell?s heads went down and Okehampton forced another penalty corner ten minutes from time which Andy Finley fired home.
From then on good solid team hockey meant Okehampton came away winners.
Man of the match: Olly Tallowin.
This week Okehampton are away to Plymouth University.
