PEOPLE are being asked to donate their old mobile phones and chargers to raise money for charity. Locally-based charity, the Santa Rosa Fund will be given £3 by a company in the Midlands for every mobile and charger it receives. This company will then update the phones and recycle them into the market as working, useful mobiles. The money donated for the mobiles will be used by the Santa Rosa Fund to support educational projects in Nicaragua, Central America. Anyone wanting to donate their phone can take it to Tavistock Cycles in Paddons Row, Tavistock, or to the Sixth Form Centre at Tavistock College and place in the ?Mobile Phone Recycling Box.? Organisations interested in having a ?receiver box? for the donated mobiles can contact Santa Rosa Fund trustee June Mowforth on 01822 617504. The scheme offers an opportunity for recycling and raising money for a worthy cause which is providing children in the very poor country of Nicaragua, access to schooling. The Santa Rosa Fund is organising a quiz night on November 25 in the Parish Rooms, Plymouth Road, Tavistock, 7.30pm for an 8pm start. All money raised will go to the educational projects in Nicaragua. A mobile phone recycling box will also be available at this event.
