Honiton seconds 13
Okehampton seconds 31
PLAYING up the hill Okehampton seconds spent the first 20 minutes camped in their own half, with Honiton continually pinning the Okes on their own line.
With 20 minutes gone the Okes' defence cracked and within 15 minutes Honiton had scored two tries and a penalty to lead 13-0.
Then from the restart Okehampton suddenly awoke, and after a well-timed run and offload from John Stevens, Alex Taylor popped up to run in under the posts for a converted try.
The second half saw the Okes playing down the slope and were now on the attack, and the 'Lace men' starting to look threadbare.
With Dave Wills marshalling the back line, this created the recipe of how to score tries; Phil Harding led the way with two, Dave Wills himself one and captain Simon Griffiths taking a quick tap penalty to burrow in under the defenders to complete the try scoring. Carl Poynton kicked three conversions to show great promise for the future.
This turned out to be a convincing win but the seconds will have to improve to beat Bideford seconds at homne next week.
