Okehampton 4
Torbay B 2
OKEHAMPTON knew that a win against Torbay would move them three points clear at the top of the league.
The home side started reasonably well and kept the ball without creating a goal-scoring chance, until Josh Speak played an excellent through ball to Mark Parsons who slotted home. Okehampton lost their way a bit after scoring but managed to get a second when Chris Luxton slotted home after the away team's keeper had made a fine save.
Parsons blasted over the bar before Torbay won a short and made it count, pulling a goal back. Speak found Luke Miller who smashed a reverse hit into the bottom corner before Torbay scrambled in their second of the match.
The second half saw Okehampton take control and continue to push for their fourth. Parsons and Miller both had shots saved by the goalie.
After a long possession the home side finally got their goal when Miller found Parsons who shot into bottom to make it 4-2.
Torbay tried to push for goals but never really looked like breaking down Oke's defence. It is eight league wins out of eight now for Okehampton.
Sidmouth 0
Okehampton Mens A 6
Okehampton A were full of confidence, which showed as it only took them five minutes to take the lead after Jake Lloyd took a shot which was saved by the Sidmouth defence, only for Brett Lawson to pop up at the right place to tap in the rebound.
Oke had a chance to get a second from a penalty flick when Lloyd was fouled, but Chris Searle could only put it wide of the post.
Undeterred the away team pushed on and goals from Jake Lloyd and persistence from Stuart Jarvis left the scores 3-0 at half time.
Oke continued where they left off in the second half and it took only two minutes for Lawson to find the net, putting the ball into the far left corner, leaving the Sidmouth keeper with no chance. Chris Searle made it five moments later, with a good strike low and hard.
Sidmouth tried to mount an attack but the defensive trio of Ian Miller, John Yells and Will Spry were in good form and completely shut out any threat, giving keeper Pete Sim a very quiet afternoon. A final goal from Toby Lloyd sealed yet another convincing win for Oke A. Next week they face Bridgwater D.
Oke Ladies seconds 10
Plymouth Uni thirds 0
THE Okehampton girls were in a dominant mood for this P and D league fixture.
Oke half-backs Nat Dennis and Sophie Whiteley dominated the midfield and fed their forwards with carefully placed balls. This play soon led to Okehampton's first goal from Annette Goswell when she pounced on a rebound from the Uni keepers pads and slotted the ball into the net.
This was soon followed by another goal when centre forward Eve Colton picked up the ball at the top of the circle, drew the Uni defence and passed to Goswell to claim her second. Colton created the chance for Okehampton's third goal when she moved the ball out wide for right wing Amanda Sim to hammer into the back of the net.
Okehampton's fourth came from a well practiced passing drill between Goswell and Whiteley leading to Whiteley finding the back of the net.
Eve Colton's skilful play and hard work was rewarded when her strike at goal from a penalty corner thundered past the Uni defence. Okehampton's penalty corner routines were working well and Amanda Sim scored her second. Sim was now on fire and broke away to score her third goal. Sim also netted the eighth with Goswell popping in the ninth after a goalmouth scuffle.
Okehampton's final goal was a well worked team effort with Eve Colton passing out wide to Annette Goswell who put in a lovely cross for Amanda Sim to run onto and put Okehampton's score into double figures.
Club U14 players Tara Davidson and Willemijn Rademaker both made their debut in the second team sharing the left half role, tackling strongly and marking tightly.
