THIS was a typically hard fought local derby with both teams not giving an inch.
Playing up hill and against the wind, Okehampton had the scrum under pressure from the start, but North Tawton tackled well, forcing them to make errors and lose the ball.
With 20 minutes on the clock the Okes again drove to the Tawton line, but the ball was spilled forward from the scrum.
Okehampton applied pressure and when they shot out over the line scrum-half Steve Cook was first to react ? 5-0 to the Okes.
After another ten minutes and more pressure from Okehampton, North Tawton tried to run out of their 22, but a bad pass led to an interception try by Okehampton stand-off Richard Gee.
North Tawton put some good moves together to drive into the 22, Okehampton then gave away a penalty and Joe Fewings slotted it over to make it 10-3 at half-time.
From the kick-off Okehampton surged into the North Tawton 22, winning a penalty which Evan Reece put over to make it 13-3.
This could have opened the floodgates but North Tawton defended well and restricted Okehampton to one converted try by Evan Reece.
Tawton finished the stronger and crossed the line on a couple of occasions but were held up by a resolute Okehampton defence who are proving hard to score points against this season.
