OKEHAMPTON resident Katy Graves has raised more than £600 for charity after she completed a mammoth cycle challenge for charity.
Raising money for various cancer charities, Katy recently took part in Ride the Night — a woman’s 100 kilometre cycle race through London.
In total Katy raised just over £600, which will be donated to Great Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.
‘I completed the challenge alongside more than 3,000 other ladies,’ said Katy.
‘I set out from Windsor Racecourse and cycled through Twickenham, Fulham and into London and back through Putney and Kingston Upon Thames to Windsor.
‘It was an incredible experience and many of us carried roses to place on Westminster Bridge to remember those affected by acts of terrorism.
‘We also cycled along The Mall in central London and towards Buckingham Palace. The London Eye was coloured pink to wish us well.’
Katy was joined on the cycle by ten of her colleagues from Instow Primary School, Bideford.
‘All ten of our fabulous team completed the 100km. I finished with three other team mates, we were called the Instow Ladies!’
‘I crossed the line at 4am and it was amazing to see all the people there to support you at that crazy time. It was an unbelievable and emotional experience and who knows I may be back next year!’
Prior to the cycle, Katy hosted a coffee morning and prize raffle in Toast Coffee House in Okehampton, which raised £417.
Overall, through the raffle and sponsorship, Katy raised more than £600 for the three charities.
Katy wished to thank everyone who had donated and supported her.
