AN UNUSUAL coffee table marking the historic occasion when a former mayor performed the honours to name a train after the town has been presented to Okehampton Town Council.

Elizabeth Passmore, right, presented Okehampton mayor Jan Goffey with the coffee table at the town council meeting on February 26.

Elizabeth is the granddaughter of Walter Henry Passmore, a former mayor of Okehampton, who was presented with the coffee table when he officially named the locomotive ‘Okehampton’ on June 12 1947.
