THERE was an excellent turn with 18 Okehampton Running Club members at the Bideford Half Marathon.

Weather conditions were ideal for the time of year, dry and still with the sun shining later in the morning after a cool start.

Well known as a 'swift half' this half marathon starts in Bideford's town centre, follows the River Torridge towards Great Torrington before taking runners back to Bideford via the Tarka trail from the Puffing Billy. The course is relatively flat and therefore fast making it ideal for the personal best times (PB) and some club records: Roger Voaden 1.17.33 personal best, MV45 and overall male club record; David Mugliston 1.30.52 PB; Kirstin Phippard 1.35.54, PB - senior female and overall female club record; Mervin Rice 1.36.08, PB, MV55 club record; Sophie Halliday 1.39.44 PB first half marathon; Jo-Anne Fletcher 1.45.02, PB; Jane Jackson, FV55 club record; Karen Vallance, 1.48.17 PB; Lisa Veale, 1.50.05 PB; Jayne West, 1.50.47 PB; Jane Jones, 1.52.18, PB, FV45 club record; David Way 1.53.44 PB; Rebecca Walker 1.54.25 PB; Clare Poulter, 1.54.40 PB, first half marathon; Cathy Carey 1.56.59 PB; Jo Camies 1.57.19, PB; Lii Raudsep 1.57.44 PB; Katy Speak 2.00.13 PB; Alison Holliday 2.07.22 PB and Lita Vallance 2.29.12.
