Okehampton 12

Torbay C 0

OKEHAMPTON continued to take the league by storm as they romped past a helpless Torbay side.

A slugglish start from the home side soon began to liven up and it wasn't long before they opened the scoring when Chris Luxton riffled the ball home from the edge of the area.

Luxton then had a shot rebound off the post before Josh Speak had a shot deflected beyond the travelling goalkeeper.

The hosts made it three through Luke Miller before James Rogers added the forth after a short corner wasn't cleared. Substitute Jake Lloyd then put his body on the line by rounding the keeper only to be taken out, Miller converted the resulting penalty flick.  The other sub Greg Williams then found the net on his debut just before the half time whistle arrived.

Much of the same continued into the second half as Okehampton continued to rampage through the opposition, Mark Parsons making it seven before Miller got his hat-trick.

With so much space debutant Williams was able to retain possession and produce some telling passes, one of which set Miller up for his forth, Parsons then made it ten as the hosts remained relentless. Parsons then got his hat-trick before Miller wrapped up the scoring with the 12th. Man of the match was Nick Luxton

All in all this was a fairly easy game for Okehampton.

l This Saturday Oke men are at home to Bridgewater C, starting at 12.45pm.

Okehampton Hockey A 4

Taunton Vale D 2

Okehampton faced second placed Taunton Vale this week looking to bounce back from last weeks defeat.

The home team started in a positive manner and looked the more likely to score but whilst pushing for the breakthrough, Okehampton were left vulnerable at the back and were caught on the break to go a goal down.

Okehampton rallied and started to play some good hockey. The equaliser came after some good passing between John Cross and Stuart Jarvis allowed Simon Bourne to get on a Jarvis cross to make the scores level. Man of the match Jarvis got a goal for himself squeezing the ball in the net from the tightest of angles and Toby Lloyd added another with a neatly placed short corner into the bottom corner.

Okehampton were cruising until an injury to captain Ian Miller lead them losing their shape and Vale managed to claw one back when the home side failed to defend their lines.

Taunton had the momentum for the final ten minutes until Brett Lawson took a short corner which the Taunton keeper could only help to fumble the ball into the net to ease the pressure.

* Okehampton are away to Wells to face Mid Somerset B on Saturday before playing East Devon C at home on Sunday.
